Second Trimester Grades
The second trimester will end Friday, March 12th. Report cards will be mailed home the week of March 22nd. Please review the report card with your students and set goals for the third trimester. On time daily attendance and completing all assignments are two critical parts of creating academic success. School Loop is an excellent tool to help your child manage their assignments. The daily planner should be used by all students to write down assignments each day.
Summer School Information
Due to State budget constraints, AUSD will be unable to provide K-8 summer school as it has in the past. We can continue to offer 9-12 summer school, grades 3-8 English Language Development for qualifying students, and Extended School Year (ESY) for eligible K-12 Special Education students. We are also partnering with Cal State East Bay and Alameda Office of Education to offer an Algebra Camp for a cohort of 7th and 8th graders. We are in the preliminary planning stage. When identified, students will receive individual summer school invitations. We will be working with the City of Alameda concerning additional summer programs for children.
Gallup Poll Participation
Measuring Hope, Engagement, and Well-Being: Gallup’s research has shown that hope, engagement, and well-being are key factors that drive student grades, achievement scores, retention, and future employment. In partnership with America’s Promise Alliance, the Gallup Student Poll is dedicated to measuring these three key factors of America’s students. Hope, engagement, and well-being are actionable targets and indicators of success. By tapping into the hearts and minds of America’s students, the Gallup Student Poll will provide crucial insight to help facilitate new conversations and solutions for student success in school and life.
A Web-Based Survey: The Gallup Student Poll consists of a 10-minute Web-based survey, administered to students in grades 5 through 12, and conducted over a two-week period at school. It contains 20 core items, demographic items, and one randomly assigned index item. All data are stored, aggregated, and analyzed by Gallup, and no individual student information will be revealed to anyone. At the close of the two-week period, the school principal will receive an electronic scorecard of the school’s results. The district will also receive an overall scorecard.
Survey Dates: Students will take the survey during schools hours between Tuesday, March 16, 2010 through Friday April 2, 2010.
More Information: Visit the Gallup Student Poll Web site at www.gallupstudentpoll.com.
